Peachtree City has a history rich with Indian heritage.  Before its development, the inhabitants of the area were the Woodland Era Indians, also known as the Creek.  The land was officially ceded in 1821 to the Federal Government by Chief William McIntosh Jr. of the Lower Creek Indian Tribes.  Being the son of a Scotsman and a Creek Indian mother, Chief McIntosh was very firm with his beliefs about the joining of settlers and Indians to accomplish peace and progress for everyone.  In his honor, many roads and villages were given Scottish names, such as Aberdeen, Braelinn, and Kedron.
